Upma is spicy south
Indians recipe made by Samoline called rava. Upma is light breakfast and it is
minute maid and easy to make recipe. In the season of winter you need some
health and hot breakfast so try this upma with coconut chutney and lemon
pickle.
Ingredients for Upma Recipe
Semolina (Rava) (roasted):
1 cup
Water: 2 Cup
Onion (chopped):1
Green chili (chopped):1
Chana dal: 1 Tablespoon
Sugar: 2 Teaspoon
Ghee: 2 Teaspoon
Ginger (chopped): 1
Teaspoon
Mustard seeds: 1 Teaspoon
Urad dal: ½ Tablespoon
Cumin seeds: ½ Teaspoon
Curry leaves: 1 spring
Cashew nuts: 8
Salt as per taste
Method How to Cook Upma
Step 1: Take a pan adds little
Ghee and roast Semolina, and then keep them a side.
Step 2: Now take a pan, add little
Ghee, add mustard seeds, after mustard seed are crackled, add cumin, chana dal
and urad dal.
Step 3: After mixture get brownish
add cashews after it get brown add onions and mix it well.
Step 4: After onion get brown add
chili, ginger, curry leaves and mix it well, add water and keep it boiled
for
2-3 minutes.
Step 5: Now add salt, sugar and
roasted semolina cook for 3-4 minutes. When water is absorb your upma is ready.
Step 6: Garnish upma with
coriander/cilantro leaves and serve it with or coconut chutney or lime pickle.
Additional
Tips:
Keep on stirring while you
add the semolina.
The semolina should be
added not once but in 3-4 batches with a spoon.
If the mixture looks dry,
then add some more water.
