Khichdi is light weight food and all time favourite for Indians special for those who follow diet.
Moog Dal Khichdi is easy to make and great combination with Potato's Sabji, Crud and Chutney.
Ingredient for Moog Dal Khichdi
Split Yellow Gram (Mag Dal Khichdi): 1 Cup
Rice: 1 Cup
Cumin Seeds:
1 Teaspoon
Asafoetida: 1 Teaspoon
Ginger Finely (chopped): 1 Piece
Cinnamon: 1 Sticks
Green Chili (chopped): 2
Black Peppercorns: 8
Ghee: 3 Teaspoon
Water: 5 Cup
Salt as per taste
Method How to Cook Moog Dal Khichdi
Step 1: Wash and soak the split
yellow gram and rice together for 15 minutes.
Step 2: Drain, Heat the water in a
vessel till very hot. Keep aside. Heat the ghee (clarified butter) in a large
heavy bottomed vessel till it is very hot.
Step 3: Add the cumin seeds and
let them splutter.
Step 4: Now add the chopped ginger, green chilies,
cinnamon, peppercorns, asafoetida and turmeric powder.
Step 5: Stir fry on medium / low
level for about 2 minutes. Now, add the split yellow gram, rice and salt. Mix
well.
Step 6: Add the hot water to this
and bring to a boil. Cover and keep on low heat for 25 minutes or till the
mixture is slightly mushy.
